Kewannee Trail Description

Kewannee Trail is a charming, neighborhood trail in Maitland, Florida. More than just a recreation path, the trail is popular as a connective line from the neighborhood to several destinations including schools, the library and shopping.

The trail begins at Cassel Creek Boulevard, beside the Semoran Skateway and travels northwest, through several neighborhoods in the area. The Skateway is a kid-friendly recreation spot so no doubt that some of the traffic on the trail will be from families walking or biking to and from the rink. The trail then parallels Cascade Circle for a spell before entering Kewannee Park, a six-acre park in the Indian Hills subdivision. A nice diversion in the park is the boardwalk side-trail over scenic native wetland. There is also a pier on the pond, as well as all the usual amenities: playground, basketball courts, restrooms. Exiting the park, trail users will then cross a road also somewhat confusingly named Kewannee Trail. A nice, cool tree-covered segment follows. The trail then basically continues north following the alignment of Howell Canal to an abrupt end at Oxford Street.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at Kewannee Park (1505 Kewannee Trail). Beginning on US-17 S/US-92 W head north toward Triplet Lake Drive. Stay in the middle lane to remain on US-17 S/US-92 W. Turn left onto Semoran Blvd and stay on if for about 1.3 miles. Finally, turn right onto Kewannee Trail (road). The park is on your left.

Pedaling Through Backyards

Well paved with more wildlife than you would expect - hawks, herons and Ibis. Relatively suburban, so not much to see other than backyards, fences and retention ponds

Walk, In-line Skate, Jog or Bike Ride very enjoyable Trail

2019-03-05 Beautiful Saturday allowed me to enjoy an equally beautiful bike ride through this trail - which by the way can connect to Casselberry Trail ( if you want to make it a longer ride experience) I enjoyed the scenery. It is an easy Walk, Skate, In-line Skate, Jog or Bike Ride Come check it out for yourselves :-)
