The Kill Creek Streamway Trail exists in 2 segments: the northern segment begins near Lexington Avenue in De Sort and winds south of 95th along Kill Creek. The southern segment picks up in Kill Creek Park and tracks a serpentine course south to W. 135th Street in Olathe. The two segments add up to seven miles of paved, multi-use trail, but Kill Creek Park hosts singletrack hiking and mountain-biking trails as well as equestrian paths. The park also features a swimming beach, picnic facilities, restrooms and a playground.
There are plans to connect the two trail segments, as well as to extend the trail from the Kansas River to Gardner, Kansas.
For the northern segment, you can park on 95th Street at the Kill Creek Off-Leash Dog Area (De Soto).
To access the southern segment, park near Shelter 1, in Kill Creek Park (11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe).
Love this trail when the single track is closed. It runs along Mill Creek and through parks, neighborhoods, and places to eat.
Beautiful in all seasons. Well maintained trail with conscientious/experienced cyclists, hikers and dog walkers. A hidden gem. I worry that this will change once the word gets out.
This trail is perfect for older, beginner bicycle riders, which my wife and I are. The park is also lovely.
