Kipling Trail Description

The Kipling Trail sits beside Kipling Parkway/ State Route 391 extending from Lakewood to Littleton, southwest of Denver. While there’s enough miles to offer a good workout, or to run errands between the residential and commercial pockets along the parkway, what’s especially great is that the Kipling Trail intersects with no less than five area favorite trails. From north to south, the trails are Bear Creek Trail, the Weaver Gulch Regional Trail, the Lilley Gulch Trail, Dutch Creek Regional Trail and the C-470 Bikeway, which serves as its endpoint.

Other points of interest include the numerous parks, schools, churches and local businesses.

Parking and Trail Access

The trail can be accessed from any of the intersecting streets.

There is one designated parking area in Littleton off S Kipling Parkway W Ken Caryl Avenue & W Roxbury Avenue.

You can also park in the following areas:

  • Lakewood Park (150 S Kipling St., Lakewood)
  • Harriman Lake Park (W Quincy Ave. & S Kipling Pkwy, Littleton) – also has restrooms
  • Lilly Gulch Park (6147 S Holland Way, Littleton) – also has restrooms
  • Ken Caryl Ranch Community Park (7950 Sangre De Cristo Rd) – also has restrooms

Kipling Trail Reviews

Follows highway

Trail follows busy street with lots of stop lights

Good ride

If you do this ride round trip, the elevation gain is over 1,100 feet. Not a bad ride and if you look in the distance the view is nice. However, the trail is parallel to Kipling so you’re riding next to a busy street with a lot of traffic lights. That said, the drivers were extremely nice. We are cyclists that obey all traffic laws and it was great how we could ride in unison, thanks Lakewood!!
