Print Friendly MapRunning along the shore of a barrier island, the Lake Trail offers views of the mainland across the gorgeous blue water. Located in Palm Beach, the trail travels north to south along a paved path adjacent to Lake Worth and the boat docks. Most of the trail is off the main road, but there are some street crossings in the southern portion of the ride. Trees lining the route provide some shade and you can easily leave the trail to check out any of the nearby schools, shops, and restaurants.
Nicknamed the Trail of Conspicuous Consumption, you can get some good looks at the beautiful mansions in this upscale area. A water fountain is available at the northern end, but it wouldn’t hurt to bring some with you if heading south. This trail will not disappoint those looking for an easy going and relaxing ride with a great view along the way.
Parking is available in a paved lot near 300 Sunset Ave, Palm Beach. There are two parking lots next to each other, but one is reserved for the building next door. Be sure to pay attention to the signs. Street parking is also an option.
The only thing this trail needs is a bathroom somewhere. We had a nice breeze off the water. Well worth the trip to get there though.
We tried to find this trail. Google maps led me into downtown West Palm . Apple led me way out of the way. It would be real nice if the actual starting address was provided so the trail can be found. Also, indicate if off street parking is available.
Big Pappa
This is one of the favorite trails, probably ever. It’s right next to the water, is plenty wide enough for walkers, runners, bikers etc. The length is perfect as well. There is so much beautiful scenery and many pretty homes to view also. If I lived there I would use this path several times a week.
This is a beautiful Trail to cycle! My only complaint is, I wish it was the entire length of Palm Beach...¿¿
Quiet, safe, well kept, long enough, awesome pier at the end. Fully recommended!!
We parked near the shopping center off Royal Poinciana Way. The trail goes underneath this road. After reaching the northern tip we meandered back along uncrowded city streets. Not for the speedy, the trail hosts many joggers and walkers, but the views make up for it.
Beautiful place
We ride at sunset and it was very nice. Beautiful view and houses. Very good trail for families or runners. We did it on bikes.
It’s a really nice ride, amazing houses and not too much traffic.
Free 2 hour parking on the street, BESIDE Flagler Museum. Trail is marked in that area but signage when riding it is overall poor. There are a few " breaks" in the trail but it goes from Worth Ave on the south to the Inlet on the north.
It follows ( usually right on the water) of Lake Worth (the intercostal waterway). If you loose track of the trail because of no signs, just continue to take streets toward the intercostal and the trail will re-appear.
It is about 5.5 miles long. It ends before the Inket but a couple blocks of back streets will get you there. There is a drinking fountain at the Inlet (dock) but no public restrooms anywhere. Where the trail crosses Poinciana Blvd. there is a shopping complex (look for the valet parking). In that complex is a deli called Too-Jays Deli. You can eat lunch there and use the restrooms.
The 2 hour parking time is plenty of time to ride the whole trail.
Rented a Skybike in West Palm Beach, crossed the causeway, and rode this trail. It is absolutely beautiful with all of the mansions on one side and the Intracoastal on the other. Very easy ride. Water fountain available at the southern end at Sunset Avenue.
Word of caution: lack of northbound signage and the construction at Flagler Bridge makes the trail difficult to find for a few blocks. Make a left onto Sunset to continue the trail. Southbound signage is much better.
Took a pic of the sunset from a beautiful paved portion that extends half a mile. After crossing the bridge, enjoyed paved brick portion that was surprisingly smooth. If I had remembered my ID, I would have enjoyed myself a beer. Not a great place to get in a had core workout for inline skating or biking...but fantastic for jogging/walking/site seeing.
