The Laverack Nature Trail at Hawkins Brook is an ADA compliant nature trail that offers views of wetlands, forests, and wildlife. Located in the Town of Meredith, this trail connects the village center and Lake Winnipesauke with the Meredith Community Center, Prescott Park, and the town's athletic facilities.
From Lake Winnipesauke, follow this accessible trail along Hawkins Brook to the first outlook and benches. Walking along the boardwalk, you'll find interpretive signage and three seating areas. A compact classroom area with a free tiny library provides an opportunity to study the local flora and fauna. The trail then passes through a wooded area alongside wetlands and a seasonal brook. The terrain is flat except for one rise at the Prescott Park entrance. You can access the trail from both Prescott Park and next to the Meredith Village Savings Bank.
To reach the Prescott Park entrance, follow Route 3N through the junction of 3/25 to Prescott Park. Take a right and follow the road up the hill to the tennis courts and fields. Walk along the level dirt road next to the tennis courts until you see the kiosk at the entrance to the trail. Parking is available near the courts or below next to the baseball fields.
To reach the Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) entrance, follow Route 3N through the junction of 3/25 about 300 feet to public parking on your right. You can park there or follow the lane to behind the MVSB administrative building. There are also two handicap spots located on the side of the building.
