Legacy Park Trail Description

Inside of Lee's Summit's Community Park, the Legacy Park Trail is a family oriented destination with an abundance of activities available. Sitting on 692 acres, the park host many youth sports games, holds 3 shelters, a 22 acre lake, playgrounds, fishing dock, and more. The trail itself is part of a larger 38-mile planned loop that will one day connect Lee’s Summit, Grandview, Kansas City, and other rural areas. This Greenway Trail System was developed by the Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation Department.

The trail circles the entire park, creating a 4-mile round trip. Within this loop are two sub-loops; the Picnic Trail Loop (0.53 miles) and the Lake Trail Loop (1.69 mies).

Parking and Trail Access

Both trailheads can be reached by taking 470 W to the Colbern Rd exit. Continue on Colbern Rd and turn right onto Blackwell Pkwy and you will be on the outside of the park.

Parking is available at various playgrounds and venues.

Legacy Park Trail Reviews

This is a nice place to ride with a lot of different elevation changes. (Technical terms for Lots of Hills)... can get congested with bikes and walkers on nice weekends... Then you have to watch out for dogs as well...

Hilly Fun!

I LOVE this trail because it's very hilly no matter which direction you choose to go. It's a nice quiet run that can be stretched to 5 miles with an extra loop at one end. It offers a great view of the baseball field, lots of rabbits and the occasional deer. Not a lot of shade though.
