Liberty Rail Trail Reviews

Not for road bikes

Do it with the nearby Parksville Trail

I rode both of them one autumn day in September 2018. This was after several days of rain, so some parts of each trail were boggy. Even in dry weather these are not for road bikes, but they are worth visiting. Neither town is highly populated and they are not really tourist destinations. So bring most of what you might need.

Rail trail in Liberty

Not a bad walk we did the first 2 parts but when we got to the third the grass was two tall to many trees down and we had to turn back

Needs maintenance

We rode this trail May 9th, 2017 - really rough ride. The trail has three distinct parts. Starting from the north end, the trail starts with a vey irregularly surfaced stretch - definitely keep your eyes on the trail. The second portion was a short road section through an industrial area. A short steep descent led to the third section, perhaps rideable by an expert rider but we carefully walked our bikes down the slope. Turned out the third section was not worth the effort. There were many fallen trees across the path, not so large you couldn't proceed but defeating the purpose of the ride to stop and lift your bike over a tree every couple minutes. Finally after about 8 of these and seeing 3 more ahead we turned around and headed back.
