Lifecore Trail Description

Fishersville is a small community located between Staunton and Waynesboro in Augusta County. This pedestrian and cycling path was added as part of Fishersville's road improvements and useful for both recreation and commuting within the community. The paved, 8-10 foot trail begins at the Woodrow Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center and heads south adjacent to Wilson Avenue, past Wilson Elementary. It continues along Lifecore Drive where users can access the Augusta Health medical complex, before meeting Tinkling Spring Road. The trail continues along the latter road, passing over Interstate-64 before ending a little past the Expo Road intersection.

The Lifecore Trail connects to the Supporting Therapeutic Access to Recreation Trail, or STAR Trail at the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. This wheelchair-accessible crushed stone trail travels half-a-mile through white pine forest and around a lake. There are benches and a picnic shelter along the trail. Bicycles are prohibited on the STAR Trail but it is open to pedestrians, including those with motorized or non-motorized wheelchairs.

TomPark,Thanks for the good review - your unusual rear bike rack caught my eye as well. Would you please tell me more about it and where purchased? Constance

urban trail with a park

Paved urban trail - not a RT. Plenty of parking at the “Wilson” end, since the other end just stops at a construction site. Many of the road crossings are small and the large ones have signal control buttons. Not flat - comfortable ups and downs past housing developments, medical offices, and hospital. McD and other fast food at the end the route along Tinkling Spring Rd. Augusta Kitchen (closer to trail head) looked like a great place to eat, but only opened at 11:00 and we rode earlier. A pleasant park down a short paved access road off the parking lot with 1/2 mile walking trail around small lake to enjoy after your ride. Also has clean & modern bathroom.
