Little Cove Road Greenway Description

The Little Cove Road Greenway begins at Hampton Cove Elementary in eastern Huntsville. Here, the trail connects to the Big Cove Creek Greenway, which can take you north along the scenic waterway, or south to the Hays Nature Preserve.

From the school, you will travel east along Old Highway 431 for about a mile before veering north on what will become Little Cove Road. Along the way, you'll pass the Hampton Cove Golf Course, one of 11 sites on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, a collection of championship-level public golf courses across Alabama.

The trail ends at the Flint River Bridge in the upscale community of McMullen Cove.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the trailhead at Hampton Cove Elementary (261 Old Highway 431).

Little Cove Road Greenway Reviews

Enjoyable leg of a triple trail suite!

I had ridden Big Cove Greenway and Flint River Greenway from Hays Reserve but went back in for the third leg. I started at Hays Preserve and rode up Big Cove to Old US 431 and US 431. From there I rode out Little Cove and back then on up Big Cove and back to Hays Preserve then down Flint River and back. Little Cove trail travels past lovely lakes and well kept neighborhoods. A Hampton Cove golf course is on the other side of Old 431. Wonderful addition. Loved the experience. Wished for Bham (my home town) to have the foresight to make something like this happen. Come on Bham!

Great for Commuting

I am always thankful for trails that take bikers off the busy roads. This trail is one that is used by McMillan and Hampton Cove for commuting and exercise. It is not over scenic (although this part of Alabama is exceptionally beautiful).

There are few trees so the greenway is mostly in the sun. This is nice on those days when it is a little chilly or when a person wants to get loads of healthy vitamin D from natural sunshine.

The nice thing about a trail such as this is that those in autos can see that there are people using these trails and enjoying themselves.
