Lucille Creek Trail Description

The Lucille Creek Trail runs through Powder Springs for over a mile, traveling along the western bank of its namesake waterway for most of its journey. It's a nicely shaded, paved pathway with views of wetlands and access to Powder Springs Park. The majority of the trail winds it way north/south through the woods along the creek, before turning into a sidepath along Powder Springs Dallas Road that leads into the core of the community.

Just east of the Florence Road Trailhead, the trail makes an important connection to the popular Silver Comet Trail that stretches 61 miles from Atlanta to the Georgia/Alabama state line.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the Florence Road Trailhead for the Silver Comet Trail; the Lucille Creek Trail is 0.3 miles east of this trailhead. Restrooms, water, and picnic tables are also available there.

Parking is also available on the southern end of the trail in Powder Springs Park (3899 Brownsville Road).

Quiet Trail Intersects Silver Comet

Lucille Trail connects from downtown Powder Springs to Shipp Rd. The first 1/3 in Powder Springs is not well defined in a moderate-traffic area. Once on the paved trail just past the Post Office, Lucille intersects the Silver Comet, then follows a small creek up to Shipp road, parallel to Hwy. 278 towards Hiram. (On my ride, I took Shipp to New Macland back to the Silver Comet to complete the square.) Lucille is a short ride, and I passed very few people on Saturday mid-morning.
