Marv Holubar Trail Description

Vascilating between natural and suburban surroundings in the outskirts of Bellevue, the Marv Holubar Trail offers an important off-road connection from local neighborhoods to popular shopping destinations, outdoor recreation areas, and the excellent West Papio Trail.

The trail begins where 36th Street crosses the Papillon Creek, and heads southwest through a lightly wooded area along the smaller Quail Creek. The trail passes behind the large Twin Creek shopping center, offering residents a valuable means of accessing the stores by foot or bike. The trail continues across a bridge alongside Twin Creek Drive, where trail users can turn right to access a switchback route that continues to follow Quail Creek and takes you under the road and the busy State Route 370, proceeding into the tranquil neighborhood of Lakewood Villages along Maass Road. Alternatively, you can continue west on Twin Creek Drive up to 42nd Street, where the trail turns to the north and takes you by the Bellevue Soccer Complex and up across Papillon Creek. From there, you can extend your journey by continuing onto the longer West Papio Trail, part of a larger network of trails that can take you all the way into Omaha.

The Marv Holubar Trail may not be the most scenic of trails, but it offers the best and safest means of crossing the highway and is an invaluable resource for local residents hoping to get around the area by foot or bike.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available within the Twin Creek Shopping Center; be sure to follow any posted parking restrictions.

To reach the trail from Omaha, take US 75 south towards Bellevue. Exit onto State Route 370 and turn right to proceed west. Turn right onto S 36th Street; the trail begins on the left side of 36th Street, but you may wish to turn left onto Twin Creek Drive to park within the Twin Creek Shopping Center before accessing the trail.
