Print Friendly MapThe Matadero Creek Trail, also known as the Page Mill-Arastradero Connector, offers beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains as it winds its way through gently rolling hills and rural countryside.
The paved northern half of the trail, from Foothill Expressway (Junipero Serra Boulevard) to Deer Creek Road, closely follows Page Mill Road and is open to both bikers and walkers. Bikers should take note that the southern half of the trail, from Deer Creek Road to Arastradero Road, is dirt-packed and open to pedestrians only.
There are no designated parking areas for the Matadero Creek Trail. The trail can be accessed from Foothill Expressway (Junipero Serra Boulevard), Coyote Hill Road, Deer Creek Road and Arastradero Road.
I parked at the south end on roadside. Nice short walk if you’re looking for a hilly route. Lots of cattails on southern stretch.
We walked this trail late Sunday afternoon. It was beautiful and just the right distance for little legs (children). We saw friendly horses but not snakes!Looking forward to enjoy it with my family every weekend.
I haven't tried this trail yet as I was waiting for the parking to be completed. I think it is now and will check it out. The TrailLink map will need updating. The snake described by the other two reviewers is a kingsnake, harmless to humans but likes to eat rattlesnakes. It's immune to their venom.
I also saw that white and black striped snake on June 21, 2015. What kind of snake is it? The sign warns about rattle snakes but didn't see any.
