Print Friendly MapOpened in August, 2014, the Mingo Creek Trail connects the town of Knightdale from Mingo Creek Park to the Neuse River Trail, just north of Anderson Point Park in Raleigh. Along its 3.4-mile paved surface, you will pass some residential areas of Knightdale (with a few connections to local streets such as Widewaters Parkway), ride through wooded areas and across long boardwalks over wetlands.
Where the trail intersects Hodge Road, there is a slight detour to rejoin the trail. If coming from Knightdale, head north (right turn) onto Hodge Road, then take your first left onto Princeton Town Street into a residential development. Ride on Princeton Town Street a very short distance and you will see the entrance to the trail on your left.
The trail also runs parallel to the Coastal Carolina Railway line for much of the trail's length.
Best places to park are at either end of the trail. In Knightdale, park at Mingo Creek Park (100 Parkside Commons Drive). This is a small park at the intersection of Parkside Commons Drive and Laurens Way. There is no signage at the entrance to the park, just a large metal gate. Limited parking is available here.
In Raleigh, park at Anderson Point Park (20 Anderson Point Drive). Pick up the Neuse River Trail off Anderson Point Drive before it enters the park, then ride the Neuse River Trail north a short distance until it meets the Mingo Creek Trail (you'll see a pedestrian bridge on your right).
Great trail
Paved shady trail with several long boardwalks over wet areas. Highlight includes area with turtles year-round. Cut-offs to several residential neighborhoods if want a longer ride.
This trail meanders through some pretty tree lined views, and wetlands. Nice people not too crowded and you get to entertain friendly wildlife that watch you walk by.
This trail provides a nice diversion from the main Neuse River trail. It is less crowded, and gives you a diversity of scenery, running near neighborhoods and wetlands. Mostly shaded. It follows a powerline, creek and railway most of the way. Some stretches are on boardwalks. The remainder is smooth asphalt. Mostly flat. Very good. Will ride again sometime.
