Minto-Brown Island Park Paved Path Description

Minto-Brown Island Park offers a well-loved, natural oasis in western Salem. Spanning more than a thousand acres, the park offers both wooded and open areas for recreational enjoyment. A winding paved pathway stretches end to end, allowing walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and inline skaters to experience its beauty firsthand. Amenities in the park include wildlife observation platforms, fishing docks, playgrounds, an off-leash dog area, picnic tables, portable toilets, and unpaved hiking trails.

The Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge, spanning 300 feet across the Willamette Slough, connects the park to the Riverfront Trail. That trail winds through Riverfront Park, a popular location for many of the city’s major events. The downtown park features family-friendly attractions such as a hands-on children's museum, a carousel with dozens of hand-carved animals, and a large outdoor sculpture called Eco-Earth Globe.

Parking and Trail Access

Four parking lots are available in Minto-Brown Island Park (2200 Minto Island Road SE).

Minto-Brown Island Park Paved Path Reviews

20 shades of green

Lovely trail but very busy for a Wednesday. App helps see where you are as many twists and turns.

Safe and gentle bike path

This paved path has great signage, as long as you know which parking lot you parked in. It would be really hard to get lost. Families and friendly people on the way. Cell service not great there, so plan ahead. 5 parking areas that I counted and some porta potties. I'll be back!

Nice scenery but Cougar sighting

Loved the variety of trails and places to wander off into, not just totally straight paths. Rode by a dog park. But a couple days ago there was a cougar sighting, so we only biked for 4 miles. Would like to try it again.
