Nickel Plate Trail (Connersville) Description

Connersville's Nickel Plate Trail is situated in rural eastern Indiana, not far from the state's border with Ohio. Its trailhead is located at the intersection of 32nd Street and Park Road and, from there, the trail heads straight north for three-quarters of a mile to Lick Creek. Following the former route of the Nickel Plate Railroad, the paved pathway traverses quiet neighborhoods and wooded areas. A scale model of the solar system with interpretive signage, installed as part of an Eagle project by Connersville local Alex Newhall, stretches the length of the trail.

Just one block south of the trail's southern terminus, travelers can find amenities in Roberts Park. The 80-acre park is a national historic district and includes structures that date back to the early 1900s.

The trail opened in 2015 and future plans call for it to expand to encircle the entire city.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking and other amenities can be found at Roberts Park, located at Park Road and 30th Street.
