North Bank Bridge Description

The North Bank Bridge, which opened in 2012, provides a safe and convenient pedestrian and bicycle connection between Cambridge's North Point Park and Paul Revere Park in Charlestown. Spanning 690 feet, it heads under the Zakim Bridge and over the MBTA commuter rail tracks leading into North Station.

The 8.5-acre North Point Park on the trail's west end provides recreational opportunities for enjoying the Charles River, including a waterfront promenade, boat docks, and a playground featuring images of water creatures. Here, you can also connect to the Charles River Bike Path, which is only a block away and extends 22 miles into Boston's western suburbs.

The 5-acre Paul Revere Park on the trail's east end offers a large lawn, performance area, and playground.

Parking and Trail Access

Public transportation access to the trail is available via MBTA's North Station. A limited number of parking spaces is available at the North Point Park entrance.

North Bank Bridge Reviews

Awesome City Adventure

Bike from BHCC, beyond the parking lot, take a right towards the highway and pick up the trail at the funky permanent flags bordering the waterway, which opens up under the Zakim Bridge. You may see kayakers and the Duck Boats. There's an active skate park near the bridge and many optimal spots for picnicking. Traveling left brings you through the North End. Traveling right over the North Bank Bridge brings you to Cambridge near the Museum of Science. Kudos to all who designed this inter-city space !

Fabulous bridge to downtown Boston

Using this terrific bridge, you can ride from the Cambridge (including the Charles River path) right into downtown Boston. It's a quick ride from the end of the bridge (plus a brief walk over the Charles River canal locks) into the North End, which has a nice path separated from traffic, then onto the Harborwalk and other city paths.
