Levee Trail (GA) Description

The Levee Trail is a part of Rome's connected ECO Greenway trail system, spanning 16 miles. The 10-foot wide, paved trail sits on a levee on the west bank of the Oostanaula River, and follows the waterway to its confluence with the Coosa River. The trail then enters Heritage Park, on the Coosa River's north shore. To the west, the railroad turned trail runs through Heritage Park, paralleling Second Avenue. To the east, the Robert Redden Foot Bridge delivers users to the Downtown Riverfront Trail on the Oostanaua River's east bank. The well-preserved former Central Georgia Railroad swing bridge offers gorgeous river views and invites sweethearts to memorialize their love with padlocks on the bridge. Future connections are planned to the Mount Berry Trail.
