Parrish Trail Description

Located in Kennett Township, the Parrish Trail follows the West Branch of the Red Clay Creek from Pennock Park south, currently ending off Chandler Mill Road just south of its intersection with Hillendale Road. It has a crushed-stone surface and crosses a wooded area and farm fields, passing a mushroom growing facility near its halfway point.

Although only a mile and a half long, the Parrish Trail is one segment of a larger project, the Kennett Greenway, a planned 10-mile loop trail through Kennett township. and the borough of Kennett Square. In addition to being a valuable local asset, this trail will provide connections to other nearby greenway networks in northern Delaware, the Philadelphia area (the Circuit) and the Brandywine Greenway.

Parking and Trail Access

Trailheads and parking are located in Pennock Park (675 W South St, Kennett Square) and off Hillendale Road.

Parrish Trail Reviews

Trail has been improved

Drainage and elevated sections added to prevent mud. No problem for hybrid, or MTB. Connects to Chandler Mill Rd which takes you to Land Conservancy trails on Bucktoe Rd

the Parrish trail is 3/4 miles

Ok for walking or as a cut through to avoid busy roads. Not good for road bikes. Narrow, bumpy and muddy. I clocked it from one end to the other and came out with .75 miles. If you walk one end to the other and then back, it would be 1.5 miles. Hoping it will be improved.

needs work

The trail is narrow as it follows a small creek. The trail is mostly wooded but the thick undergrowth at places meant not great scenery. Near the south end the trail enters an open field. The trail is just over one mile, definitely not 1.5 miles. A short road ride on South Street will take you to the Red Clay Creek Trail and into the Anson Nixon Park.
