The trail spans the towns of Mercer, Manitowish Waters, Boulder Junction, Sayner and St. Germain and is made up of five distinct trail sections, listed (west-east) below:

This 5-mile paved bike trail runs between Sayner and Crystal Lake. Along the ride, trail users cross Plum Creek and ride along Plum Lake. The trail also intersects with the Razorback Ridges Trail, a popular mountain biking and cross-country skiing route. At the trails eastern endpoint, the trail connects trail users with the St. Germain Hike & Bike Trail.

Plum Lake Trail Reviews

Amazing paved trail

We rode from Sayner to County Roads M & N. Beautiful trail winding through several pine woods. Kudos to Vilas County for providing extremely well-maintained paved bike trails! We will definitely return to bike more of the trails.

Connects Crystal Lake Trail to Manitowish Waters

There are two challenging hills on this 4 mile trail. They are not rolling like the St.Germaine Bike Trail. All paved. Completed it in June, 2022.

Forest-bathing

I loved being amongst all of the tall pines as we weaved through the winding asphalt trail. We took some side trips through a few of the state forest campgrounds where families were swimming and kayaking on the crystal clear lakes.
