Red Line Parkway Trail

Following Capital Metro’s Red Line Rail, the Red Line Trail will be a 32-mile trail network running from Downtown Austin to Leander.

There are currently four open sections of the trail—running east-west along New Hope Drive, halfway between the cities of Leander and Cedar Park (4.66 miles); between East Wind Drive and Clayton Lane (1 mile); from Capital Metro MLK Jr Station to Webberville Road (Boggy Creek Trail); from Webberville Road to Canterbury Street (bike lane only).

The trail surface is mix of paved concrete, asphalt, and gravel. Plans for the trail include a completely paved surface, parallel trails for bicyclists and pedestrians where possible, grade-separation from motorized street traffic, and gentle inclines.

The section running south from MLK Jr Station to Rosewood Avenue is a dual-track trail, which allows pedestrians and bicyclists to travel separately on parallel trails. The section running between Webberville Road and Canterbury Street is a bike lane only with a sidewalk as an option for pedestrians.

Parts of the Red Line Trail are shared by the Lance Armstrong Bikeway, the Northern Walnut Creek Trail, the MoPac Express Lane Shared Use Path, the Crestview/Highland Urban Trail, and the EastLink Trail.

The trail is accessible via Austin's regional public transit system, CapMetro. To plan your trip, check the CapMetro website.

For those driving, parking is available for trail section also known as the Boggy Creek Trail at Rosewood Neighborhood Park (2300 Rosewood Ave) and at the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center (808 Nile St). Additional parking is available at Metz Neighborhood Park (2398 Canterbury St), the southern end of Boggy Creek Greenbelt (2731 Webberville Rd), Downs Field (2810 E 12th St), and Veterans Memorial Park (2525 W New Hope Dr, Cedar Park).
