Rickenbacker Trail leaves off in the north from southern Miami and continues south along the Rickenbacker Causeway/Crandon Boulevard for nearly 9 miles, traversing the length of Key Biscayne. Along this popular route, you'll have beautiful views of Biscayne Bay, beaches, and palm trees.
About the Route
Crandon Park, on the island's north end, was once a coconut plantation and is now a park of more than 800 acres. It features a pristine beach, coastal dunes, picnic areas, and an amusement center. At the south end of the island is Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, where visitors can enjoy the outdoors snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and hiking. Indoor pursuits include a visitor center, museum, and historical lighthouse.
The Rickenbacker Trail runs between Alice Wainwright Park, 2901 Brickell Ave. (Miami), and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, 1200 Crandon Blvd. (Key Biscayne), where parking is available.

I’ve ridden it hundreds of times and dropped 20 pounds—got in the best shape of my life right here! 🚴¿¿¿💪
On weekends, you’ll even find more vendors along the way, which adds a fun and vibrant energy to the ride.
Downside? Cars fly by at 55 mph, and I’ve had a few close calls with distracted drivers. One time, a group of teens even shoved a friend into my path—causing a crash that left me cut up and bruised.
But truthfully? The good far outweighs the bad. This trail has brought me physical strength, mental clarity and so many happy memories.
Ride alert. Ride smart. And if you’re looking to better your health—this is one place to start.

Such a fun trail to skate. The Rickenbacker itself is a unique challenge particularly in controlling speed but also winding through the beautiful trails in Key Biscayne/Big Baggs is so much fun. Cannot recommend enough for a good skater but also remember protective gear !
Although there is a green bike lane, you can also use trail that is separated from cars. Nice trail, there is parking at Commodore Trail north-end trailhead / Alice Wainwright park. OpenSeas cafe had nice Spanish tapas and grilled seafood.
This is a great ride! Maybe not for everyone— you have a wide, smooth, bright green lane to yourself, but it is adjacent to a busy roadway. That’s plenty good for me. The state park at the end of the trail is very nice, and no traffic there.
