The Ridgewood Trail is a short, paved trail that links with two other trails—the University Crossing Trail and the SoPac Trail—to connect the Katy Trail (Dallas) and the White Rock Creek Trail (North).
Together, these trails provide a paved, off-road connection between downtown Dallas and the White Rock Lake. Together, the Ridgewood Trail and the University Trail form a 3-mile route through the communities of Northeast Dallas, linking neighborhoods and offering a variety of recreational opportunities. Linking seamlessly, the trails also serve as a vital transportation link for the surrounding communities, providing a safe and efficient route for cyclists and pedestrians to access local businesses, restaurants, schools, community facilities, and other recreational amenities.
At its southern end, the Ridgewood Trail connects to the University Crossing Trail and at its northern end, it connects to the SoPac Trail. Picking up from the University Crossing Trail at the Skillman Pedestrian Bridge, the trail heads northeast and passes Ridgewood-Belcher Recreation Center (6818 Fisher Rd, Dallas).
The Recreation Center is part of Ridgewood Park, which has a playground, a sprayground, tennis courts, picnic areas, drinking fountains, portalets, and more. Crossing Fisher Road, the trail ends at its connection with the SoPac Trail.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) provides easy access to the trail via multiple bus stops along the route. Access the trail via the light rail from the SMU/Mockingbird Station (5465 E Mockingbird Ln) or the White Rock Station (7333 E NW Hwy). Follow the University Crossing Trail northeast from the SMU/Mockingbird Station to connect with the Ridgewood Trail. From the White Rock Station, head west on the Flag Pole Hill Trail west and then southwest on the SoPac Trail. Alternatively, pick up the White Rock Creek Trail, which is about 500 feet east of the station. Visit the DART website for more information.
Parking is available at the Ridgewood-Belcher Recreation Center (6818 Fisher Rd). The center also has a range of amenities from a fitness center to tennis courts to picnic tables.
Alternatively, park at 5465 E Mockingbird Lane Parking. It is free and normally has a lot of empty spots. Follow the University Crossing Trail northeast until it becomes the Ridgewood Trail.
