Rieke Park Trail Description

The Rieke Park Trail runs behind the large community park in Auburn, Indiana, on an abandoned New York Central Railroad corridor. The paved trail is shaded for most of its route, although it emerges into open fields near the north end. Connections to Worth Road and N. Van Buren Street offer access to residents of the neighborhoods adjoining the trail to the east.

The popular Rieke Park is located near the trail’s midpoint. The park offers a playground, basketball court, picnic pavilions, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, horseshoe courts and restrooms.

Parking and Trail Access

Ample parking for the trail is available at Rieke Park on Indiana Avenue. Continue from the parking lot on foot or bike between the baseball diamonds to the Rieke Park Trail just beyond the outfield fences.

Rieke Park Trail Reviews

Great trail.

This trail is really nice. It's paved and very well-kept. The park in front of the trail is also a very nice park with pavilions and lots of sports activities and clean bathrooms. If you take the trail north of the park you can use sidewalks to connect to the DeKalb trail. If you take the trail south of the park you can end up in town and also go on an adjoining path to the reike park lodge and pond. It was a great trail that was very wide and pretty.

This trail is well maintained and shaded. There are benches to rest at regular intervals. It is a good place to watch for birds. During the summer, there are mulberries you can pick for a quick snack.
