River Legacy Trail Description

River Legacy Park is a 1,300 acre park sitting on both sides of the Trinity River. It serves as a multi-use destination point for picnics, walking, biking, and private events. The trail within the park itself is a 8-mile concrete paved route that connects to unpaved mountain biking trails of various difficulty levels. The trail follows the path of the Trinity River and is mostly flat making for an easy ride. It is surrounded by plenty of natural forestry and wildlife. There is a stretch of the trail that has no amenities and so it will be wise to bring a good amount of water with you along the way. Riders bringing their kids may be interested in visiting the River Legacy Living Science Center which features interactive environmental exhibits, aquariums and terrariums with native wildlife, and  nature trails to name a few.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at two entrances: 701 NW Green Oaks Blvd (Main) and 3020 N Collins Street (Smaller) whcih can be reached via Interstate 30.

River Legacy Trail Reviews

Great Beginners Trail.

I took my kids today as their first off road trail. It was a great trail. I would like to know how to add the off road trails to the map with the markers. The sun was setting and we had no idea how far we had left to go.

Beautiful Trails

I lived in Arlington, near the park, for several years. I would ride the trails every day on my bike. When I moved I would still return as often as I could. It's a very peaceful, beautiful set of trails.

Great Trail

Loved the trail, not crowded and just so peaceful! I was somewhat scared at first, but once I started seeing runners and bikers I let go of my fear and just enjoyed my scenery and nature sounds!!

nice but some parts closed

Great trail in the metro! Through 8/7/2015, miles 5 through 7 will be closed. Also bridge and trail that lead to long section of miles 2.5 to 7 will be closed 8/10 and 8/11/2015. The parking lot on Collins St is closed through September 2015 so you need to access the park from Green Oaks Blvd. a great trail map can be found on the Arlington website

Great trails

Lots of birds, upkeep of the trail is real nice and it's not too crowded. Nice mix of bikers, walkers and runners. Several sections are nicely shaded and there are several viewpoints to see the Trinity River. I go at least once a week and love it.
