Riverfront Trail (WA) Description

Castle Rock's popular Riverfront Trail originates at its main trailhead in Lion's Pride Park, which offers covered picnic areas. Following a dike north along the Cowlitz River from the park, the trail passes residences, industrial properties and even a BMX track.

At the PH10/SR 411 road bridge, trail users have the option to continue on the paved trail along the eastern side of the river or to cross the bridge to access a gravel trail on the opposite side. A new fishing and viewing platform on the eastern bank marks the northern endpoint of the paved trail, while the gravel trail on the western side leads trail users to the Castle Rock Sports Complex.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the Riverfront Trail can be found in Lion's Pride Park on Huntington Avenue S. There is also a new parking lot located where Front Ave. NW meets Huntington Ave. N/SR 411. Across the river, parking is plentiful at the Castle Rock Sports Complex off Westside Highway.

An everyday favorite

We ride this trail almost every day. .we love it. We also cross the bridge and ride around the fairgrounds. Peaceful ¿

Best trail in cowlitz county!

I live in castle rock and bike/run this often. It goes by a bike park that my kids and I all love as well. It's a beautiful, well maintained trail and my favorite in cowlitz county.

Cowlitz River, nice views

Nice views of the Kelso train station, then some nice views of the Cowlitz river on one side and a rail yard on the other side. Lots of trails between the asphalt trail and the river to explore. No elevation gain on the two mile ride.
