Rock Creek Trail (OR) Description

The Rock Creek Trail provides an important commuting route and natural escape in one of Oregon's largest cities: Hillsboro, located in the "Silicon Forest," a high-tech corridor on Portland's western side. The trail runs through a scenic greenway offering beautiful views of the creek, towering evergreens, meadows and wetlands. Orchard Park is a good place to start your journey; the park offers parking, restrooms and picnic areas. You'll then travel north across paved and boardwalk sections to the trail's end in Rock Creek Park.

Future plans call for extending the trail south another six miles to Rood Bridge Park, which offers access to the Tualatin River.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the southern trailhead near Orchard Park (20900 NW Amberwood Drive).

Rock Creek Trail (OR) Reviews

good quick ride

Good for a quick ride, relatively flat throughout. Watch out if the cottonwood trees are in bloom, and careful of the traction speed bumps on the bridge portion — they can make for an unsteady ride on a road bike for beginners.

great trail

Great with 3 kids all on bikes - one a tricycle

Rock Creek Trail

Rock Creek Trail is a great all style trail, you can walk, run, hike, bike, skate, or roll. I like to start the trail backwards from Rock Creek Park (close to home) Rock Creek Trail is dog friendly, so I pack a camel back or fannny pack with snacks, water, doggie waste bags (all though Tuallatin Hills Park & Recreation District does provide them in multiple locations) grab a leash, lace up & go. If running isn't your thing, grab some binoculars, pack a picnic basket grab a few friends, pets, or both and take a leisurely stroll to Orchard Park, have a nice meal and play some disc golf, playground for the kiddies, restrooms, and parking if needed. Binoculars or camera are great to bring for this spectacular wildlife & protected wetland, especially on the boardwalks.
