Sanderson Gulch Trail Description

Denver's Sanderson Gulch Trail follows the small stream for nearly 5 miles through several parks, offering a natural oasis right in the heart of a major city. Much of the paved route has an open feel, but there are trees here and there in the waterway's valley. Residential neighborhoods border the trail along its north and south sides.

Ruby Hill Park on the trail's eastern end is a notable highlight. The park offers a nice vantage point for viewing the city's skyline and has an artistic pavilion and plaza area with picnic tables, restrooms, and playgrounds. On this end of the trail, you can also pick up the Platte River Trail, a north-south route which provides nearly 30 more miles of riding.

Parking and Trail Access

There is parking on the east end in Ruby Hill Park and by the Platte River Trail at Overland Pond Park. On the trail's west end, on-street parking is available along Colorado Avenue.

Leisurely evening ride

This is a good, quick trail if you just want to get out after work and do a low key ride. Not challenging at all, but pretty and well maintained.
