Print Friendly MapShark Valley is at the heart of an area in Everglades National Park sometimes known as the "True Everglades" or the "River of Grass." These freshwater sawgrass marshes are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
This 15-mile loop is a flat, paved road used for the park's tram tours, but is also available for bicyclists and pedestrians. Marking the halfway point, the Observation Tower offers panoramic views of the sawgrass marshes. You may spot alligators, birds, deer, turtles, or fish. Remember to bring water as there is little to no shade along the route.
The Shark Valley Visitor Center (36000 SW 8th St, Miami) has restrooms, bicycle rentals, and guided tram tours. There are additional restrooms by the Observation Tower. The park also has a few other short trails, including the Otter Cave Hammock Trail and the Bobcat Boardwalk.
The park does have an entrance fee, which varies. Visit the Fees & Passes page on the Everglades National Park website for more information. Check the Shark Valley page for information on hours and alerts.

Lots of crocodiles! Bring water as there are no refills anywhere on the trail. And sunscreen since there is no shade. I parked along the highway and walked my bike through the entrance. This way you don't have to wait in car line AND entrance costs cheaper without the car.
Located just inside the shark valley entrance to the Everglades. National park is a wonderful path that allows you to see wildlife along the way. The only caution is you must bring water, sunscreen and head cover. Hopefully you’re wearing a helmet ! This beautifully paved surface allows you to spot, alligators and crocodiles along the way. Halfway around the loop there is an observation tower with restroom facilities. The day we were there water was not operational, so make sure you bring extra water. Not a bad idea to bring a snack as there are no facilities available inside the park that sell beverages or food.
Arrow straight for 7 miles along a canal, watch for the wild life. Route back has curves but nothing crazy. Great ride, but bring water, No shade .
