The Sheep Draw Trail is a 10-foot-wide paved regional trail along the scenic Sheep Draw Creek corridor connecting neighborhoods to shopping, recreation centers and schools. The trail travels through several of Greeley's natural areas providing opportunities to experience a variety of ecosystems. Currently the trail has three non-contiguous sections. The longest stretch runs 2.43 miles from the Poudre River Trail to the trailhead at McCloskey Natural Area, where trail users may take the 1/2-mile crusher fines Firefly Nature Trail as an alternative to the paved Sheep Draw Trail.
When the final missing section is complete, it will connect the existing trail sections at the Boomerang Ranch and Mountain Shadows neighborhoods and will create a total length of nearly 5 miles. Please check the City of Greeley's Natural Areas & Trails Current Projects webpage for updates.
For the longest section, parking is available at the McCloskey Natural Area Trailhead at 1212 71st Avenue, approximately 1/4 mile south of 10th Street/US Hwy 34 Business. Access can also be made from Rover Run Dog Park, 4949 F Street, by traveling west on the Poudre River Trail for 1 mile; or from the Signature Bluffs Natural Area Trailhead, 629 N. 71st Avenue, by traveling east on the Poudre River Trail for 1.4 miles.
Nice and easy biking and walking trail. Recommend for beginners.
