Print Friendly MapThe Sims Bayou Greenway, sometimes referred to as the Sims Bayou Hike and Bike Trail, is a developing trail through the neighborhoods of southern Houston, connecting residents with parks and recreational amenities, as well as opportunities to enjoy nature. Currently, nearly 12 miles of the trail are open in a few disconnected segments, but plans are in the works to connect and expand those sections. The project is part of Bayou Greenways 2020, an initiative spearheaded by the Houston Parks Board, which aims to have 150 miles of greenway trails in Houston by the year 2020.
The eastern end of the greenway begins at Galveston Road near the confluence of Sims Bayou and Berry Bayou. From there, the paved path travels along the south side of Sims Bayou through Glenbrook Park and along its golf course before ending near I-45. The trail picks up again on the other side of the interstate, this time following the north side of the bayou to Reveille Park, which offers picnic tables, a public pool, and a put-in spot for canoes and kayaks.
A large gap lies between this segment and the next, which starts at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, across from Sims Bayou Park. Heading west, this section spans 2 miles, nestled in the grassy expanse between the south bank of Sims Bayou and Airport Boulevard. Frequent tree buffers keep the experience pleasant as the trail winds through quiet residential areas with the occasional business dotting the route. It ends across the street from Woodson Middle School.
After another large gap, a short section of trail is open in Townwood Park on the Buffalo Speedway. The popular park offers a community center, pool, and playground. After another gap, the northernmost stretch of trail runs along Reveille Park, Glenbrook Park, the Houston Botanic Gardens before ending at Charles H. Milby Park.

I walked this today because it was close by. It is a very well kept trail. There is no shade so choose your time of day wisely. It was not crowded at all but that may have been due to the heat. I’ll definitely be back.
This ride was a great start to my day. Not too challenging but def has some moments where you have to push. Beautiful scenery. Didn’t like that it was so close to so many plants (and a waste site) but it was still a great ride, nonetheless. From the start of the trail to the feeder it was about 3.3 miles and so from Milby park back you’re looking at about 6 and a half miles. I ended up going down to the feeder and then back a bit and up Arizona and back around to add a few miles. All in all, locked in approx 8 miles. My goal was 10 but I’ll make up for it on the next ride.
Thank you we have never had such a beautiful trail in southwest Houston I love it it’s just 10 min away from my house I love it thank you the views everything is just amazing
