Skyline Trail (NE) Description

In just under three miles, the Skyline Trail takes users across a variety of settings - suburban residential, main street commercial, and agricultural. The trail is found in Elkhorn, on the west edge of Omaha where the rural and urban start to meet. The trail begins without much fanfare adjacent to Elkhorn Drive, a concrete path that is at times flush with the street. The trail leads to Ta-Ha-Zouka Park, where the little ones can expend their energy on the fields, the playground or even at the skate park.

From the park, the trail continues on Elkhorn to Main Street, where there are a variety of eateries among other businesses. The trail follows on the west side of Main Street, across the train tracks and then over West Papillion Creek. It then pivots west on Park Road. Fields of corn and other crops can be seen as the trail parallels the stream through Greenbrier Park. A small spur allows users to pause on a bridge overlooking the creek. South of the park, the trail is back in the suburbs along Skyline Road, but eventually the houses become more and more spaced out. The trail's final half mile slopes down as it passes crop fields and terminates on the bridge over W. Dodge Road/ State Route 28B.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park ( 905 Elkhorn Dr Elkhorn, NE 68022) as well as Greenbrier Park (corner of Park Road and Skyline Road).

Skyline Trail (NE) Reviews

Fun little trail

If you live anywhere near this trail and are looking for a quick 30-60 min ride- this is a great little trail. It’s paved the entire way - less a few transitions here and there- and is a very smooth ride start to finish. Plenty of shade for the bulk of the ride as well. Nothing too fancy, but if you have a limited amount of time and just need to go blow off a little bit of steam, this is perfect!

Mostly asphalt, mostly wide, mostly in good condition, and stretches of shade. For those who live near it's a nice and convenient walking and bike path. For inline skaters and skate boarders beware all the gravel.
