The North-South Greenway is a complex of trails that link up to allow residents to cross the heart of the City of Durham without the need for a car. The South Ellerbee Creek picks up the southward journey where the Ellerbee Creek Trail ends, at the corner of West Club Boulevard and Washington Street. This segment of trail continues winding along the creek, crossing Knox Street into Pearl Mill Preserve, a protected natural area. The trail winds south and then east to end at Washington Street and West Trinity Avenue.
Durham's public transit system, GoDurham, provides easy access to the trail. Visit the GoDurham website to plan your visit and view the TrailLink map for the closest transit stops.
This is a very decent trail. It would be very nice in the summer as it is mostly shaded and a good portion of it runs along the creek. As it is very close to downtown Durham, you will see many backyards and apartments along the way. It is relatively flat and is paved asphalt the whole way.
