South Meadows Trail System Description

A network of around five miles of paved, multi-use trail in the southern suburban neighborhoods of Reno, the South Meadows Trail System offers a popular means of recreation and exercise, connecting residents with a variety of parks and community destinations. The concrete and asphalt pathways meander through wetlands and residential blocks in the Double Diamond and South Meadows neighborhoods, offering a surprisingly natural trail experience right in the heart of the developing suburbs.

The western trail segments provide more opportunities to observe waterfowl and a variety of wildlife, traveling around a small pond and through open, marshy ground south of the local elementary school. While the eastern part of the trail is sandwiched right in the middle of densely-packed residential areas, the trail follows a pleasant creek, with three large community parks located along the route, providing a variety of open space and playgrounds for families out on the trail. Throughout the trail, you're accompanied by lovely views of the surrounding mountains and hills around Reno, providing a little extra natural beauty to your excursion. With its largely flat and accessible series of pathways, the South Meadows Trail System is a neat little hidden gem in this corner of suburban Reno.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the eastern trail segment is available at Center Creek Park, located at 2696 Wilbur May Parkway, at Comstock Park, on Carat Avenue just east of Double Diamond Parkway, and at Horizon View Park, located at 6975 Wilbur May Parkway. The trail is easily accessible from Interstate 580, taking exit 60 for South Meadows Parkway.
