State Route 20 Arboreta Trail Description

The State Route 20 Arboreta Trail—also known as the Highway 20 Trail—was developed in the 1970s after a donation of the right-of-way to the City of Burlington by a private citizen. The trail, which is wedged between SR 20/Cascade Highway and active BNSF Railway tracks, runs for nearly a mile east from downtown Burlington to District Line Road. Within Burlington city limits, the trail is paved; the remainder is crushed stone.

The tree-lined trail occupies the same former rail corridor as the much longer Cascade Trail stretching from Sedro-Woolley (just a few miles east of Burlington) to the small town of Concrete.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the State Route 20 Arboreta Trail can be found just to the west of the trail off N. Anacortes Street.
