The Town Loop is a popular trail that encircles the scenic community of Mammoth Lakes, providing access to a host of neighborhoods, businesses and recreational amenities. The vast majority of the system is off-road, with the few share-the-road stretches along low-stress neighborhood streets.
As the central component of Mammoth Lakes' impressive trail network, many of the town's other paths feed into it, including the College Connector Path, Main Street Connector, Meridian Connector, Sierra Park Connector, North Waterford Connector and Lodestar Connector. The entire system features smooth pavement and a stunning backdrop of mountains and woodlands.
Parking for the Town Loop is available along its route, and the best option may be to park on local streets. More formal parking and restrooms can be found at Mammoth Creek Park on Old Mammoth Road.
Very nice walk around the outskirts of Mammoth Lakes. Many beautiful views along the way however it is longer than advertised. I measured 8.2 miles but still worth the effort.
It's a bit hilly but the views are worth it!
Trail detour on gravel between Sierra Rd and Tunnel under Hwy203. Remainder of trail in good condition. Noel Keller 6-Jul-10
