Trenton Walking Path Description

A paved path, suitable for walking and cycling, the Trenton Walking Path follows the small but tranquil Frank and Poet Creek through a series of parks and green space that cuts right through the heart of the Downriver community. While the trail allows for some quality recreation on its own, it also provides access to a number of playgrounds, athletic fields, and other recreational amenities along the route, and also offers a useful path for neighborhood students to walk or bike to nearby schools.

Starting in the north, the trail connects two residential neighborhoods across the creek and continues south along the open space surrounding the waterway. Watch out for geese and their droppings as the trail winds it way along the creek, passing right by the local high school and public library, as well as the city's recreational hub, Kennedy Park - indoor ice skating is available year-round, and the aquatic center is a perfect destination for hot summer days. The trail continues for about a mile past the recreation complexes, coming to an end at a shopping center. Exercise caution when coming to or from Kennedy Park, as there is no crosswalk where the trail crosses busy West Road. A great asset for residents in the adjacent neighborhoods and a great way to explore the city's charming parks and facilities, the Trenton Walking Path serves up a pleasant trail experience that helps improve the quality of life in the community.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at Kennedy Park and at the Trenton Veterans Memorial Public Library, located on the south and north sides of West Road, respectively, at the intersection with Westfield Road. To reach the trail from Interstate 75, take exit 32A and head east on West Road towards Trenton until you reach Westfield Road.
