Twinbrook Connector Trail Description

Formerly known as the Parklawn North Trail, this path provides a bike-ped connection from the Twinbrook neighborhood to the Rock Creek Trail. The paved trail begins at the end of Rock Creek Mill Road, running deeper into the woods north of the Parklawn Cemetery. Users will find themselves curving and dipping and rising through the forest on a sun-dappled path. The growing sounds of traffic signal that you are nearing Veirs Mill Road. Across the bridge over Rock Creek, there are two options for continuing on. To the left is an unpaved path continuing the wooded route, while to the right, a protected bike-ped pathway along the shoulder of Veirs Mill Road makes the connection to Rock Creek Trail at the foot of the pedestrian bridge that spans Veirs Mill at Aspen Hill Road.

Parking and Trail Access

The Rock Creek Trail trailhead is at south side of Veirs Mill Road at Aspen Hill Road at the foot of the Rock Creek Trail bridge spanning Veirs Mill Road. One option is to park at Parklawn Local Park (13000 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD) and then ride along northwest along the shoulder of Veirs Mill, 500 or so feet. The shoulder is wide and marked for biking but not protected; the protected portion begins at the Twinbrook Connector/ Rock Creek Trail intersection.

Alternatively, you can see if you can find parking in the side streets off of Aspen Hill Road, then take the bridge over Veirs Mill to the start of the Twinbrook Connector. Be mindful posted parking regulations.

The Twinbrook trailhead is at the end of Rock Creek Mill Road. There is not a sign marking the start of the trail at the end of Rock Creek Mill Road, but it is pretty easy to find - just go to the end of Rock Creek Mill Road and the trail begins.

Connecting Viers Mill Bridge to Twinbrook Metro Station

Taking the Rock Creek Trail South, once you pass over the Viers Mill Bridge you can make a U-turn at the bottom of the bridge and head back to Viers Mill Road. The Twinbrook Connector starts there, heading Northwest and is protected from Viers Mill traffic by a guardrail. After 2/10 of a mile, you'll turn left into a beautiful forest. In five more minutes, you'll have finished the uphill trail. Continue up to Fishers Lane, make a right and in five minutes you'll be at the Twinbrook Metro Station.
