The Van Bibber Creek, Park and Trail all owe their name to Isaac van Bibber, an early settler to the area.
The eastern terminus of the trail lies on Oak Street and heads west in the swathe cut by the creek through the Stenger Soccer Complex. Once outside the soccer park, the trail meanders behind residences up to Ward Road/ SR 72 where it dips under the thoroughfare and emerges in the Van Bibber Park. This open space offers a slice of undisturbed nature within an otherwise urban setting, with riparian wetlands and grasslands that are home to varied wildlife. Dogs and horses are welcome too – equestrian use is allowed between Ward Road and Indiana Street. The park also features a tangle of soft-surface trails branching off from the main concrete greenway.
At Indiana St. this section of the trail ends but a secondary section lies just west of the the eastern portion of the trail. This section of the trail winds its way through it residential neighborhoods as well as Long Lake Regional Park. It also crosses paths with the perpendicular Fairmount Trail.
There are several parking options along this trail. Near the eastern end of the trail there is parking at the Stenger Sports Complex Tennis Courts (5674 Simms St). There is also parking at the Van Bibber Open Space (5575 Ward Rd), and additionally at 5590 Indiana Ct, there is parking.
