Warrington Township Multi-Use Trail Description

The Warrington Township Multi-Use Trail spans nearly 3 miles on the west end of town. The trail is part of an effort to make the community more pedestrian-friendly, connecting major points of interest, like shopping centers, schools, and neighborhoods.

The north end of the trail begins in Lower Nike Park, once one of the 13 Nike Atlas-class missile sites used to defend Philadelphia from intercontinental ballistic missiles during the Cold War with Russia. Farther south, the Bradford Reservoir Recreation Area is a centerpiece of the trail.

Future plans call for extending the trail under the main roadways of Route 611 and Route 132 to connect to the adjacent Bucks County townships of Doylestown, Warminster, Chalfont, and Warwick, and the Montgomery County townships of Horsham and Montgomery.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking, restrooms, and drinking fountains are available within Lower Nike Park (301 Folly Rd., Chalfont). Parking can also be found in the Bradford Reservoir Recreation Area.

Warrington Township Multi-Use Trail Reviews

Powerline extension complete, great bike workout!

Scenery is beautiful! With the recent completion of the Power line extension, this park now provides an excellent option for walking and biking. I generally ride 2 laps on the paved trail, lasting about an hour and covering 11 miles.

Who knew it was there!

Wanted to try somewhere close to home I haven't walked at before and used this site to see what was close by. I have driven down Folly Road so many times and would never know this trail was there. I really enjoyed it snow and all. Very peaceful and with the sun shining lovely views of the water. Can't wait to check it out when the snow has melted.

So peaceful!!

Just visited this trail on bike for the first time and there were hardly any people. They have a number of information plaques about the wildlife in the park which are great for families with children. There is also a fantastic bird observation space at the beginning of the trail near Link Park - benches looking into a wooded area where bird feeders are set up. Really fantastic! Just bring some bug spray if you plan to watch them for a while - it was a little damp when I went and there were definitely Mosquitos. At the time of this post, it is a very short trail if you're on a bike and are sticking to the paved roads, though I know the township has plans for eventual expansion. There are also many smaller (non-paved) trails through the woods plus a number of grassy "foot trails" that I did not explore. I look forward to going back on foot perhaps with a picnic - definitely a great spot for some mid-week relaxation!

Lower Nike Park/Bradford Reservoir

First time on this ride, i live local & didn't know about it so i was anxious to try it out. Perfect ride, paved trails winding along through woods & open meadows. Some inclines, especially by the reservoir. I stayed right at the fork on the main trail & it took me past the reservoir, into the woods to a dead end, with a small trail cutting off into the woods. Jumped on the trail for maybe a half mile or so, then turned back, not knowing where i was or where i was going! Even riding on the paved areas through the woods there are plenty of chances to jump off to small trails, often tying back to the main paved trail. About 4 miles out and back on the paved section, but plenty of opportunity to find new trails leading off through the woods. I will be back to explore more!!
