Running parallel to the Charles River, the Watertown Riverfront Park features a loop trail designed especially for visitors who are blind to enjoy.
A guide wire runs along the edge for visitors to hold with stone markers placed periodically describing different features of the natural Charles River habitat in Braille and in English text. The stone markers are signaled along the guide wire by wooden blocks. The sensory park has a marimba bench and large wooden boats on the ground for visitors to sit in, as well as walls and logs to interact with. The park and the 0.25-mile trail can be enjoyed by all including seeing visitors.
Nearby trails include Charles River Bike Path (also referred to as the Charles River Greenway), the Watertown Community Bike Path, and the Watertown-Cambridge Greenway.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) public transit system provides access to the trail. Visit the MBTA website to find your trail.
