Print Friendly MapThe Wellington Greenway is a section of the Malden River Greenway in Medford, Massachusetts. Eventually, the Wellington Greenway will be connected to the other sections of the Malden River Greenway in Malden and Everett.
The Wellington Greenway begins in the Park at Rivers Edge, part of a new mixed-use development. It runs along the Malden River before ending near Revere Beach Pkwy. The section from Revere Beach Pkwy to the Wellington MBTA Station should be complete in Summer 2019. Starting from the Wellington MBTA Station, the trail follows the Mystic River. Most of this section runs through Torbert MacDonald State Park, part of the Mystic River State Reservation. From the west end of the trail, you can continue along the Mystic River, or cross the river to reach the Mystic River Greenway.
Parking is available at Torbert Macdonald State Park (4253 Mystic Valley Pkwy). The trail is also accessible from the Wellington T stop.
You can park in the lot behind the State Police Station on Route 16 at Route 28 intersection. A short ride through the park toward Route 28 where you need to use the pedestrian crossing light. Once across the road you go right and enter the park that runs parallel to the Mystic River. This place is so quiet you could never imagine that you are in the city. The trail goes under the tracks near Wellington Station and ends in the parking lot. You can go from here to any number of other trails in the area along the rivers.
