Western Gwinnett Bikeway Description

The Western Gwinnett Bikeway was designated one of the Gwinnett County's Signature Trails as part of the county's ambitious trails master plan, which hopes to link communities across the populous suburban area northeast of Atlanta. The trail currently offers over six miles of paved path between Peachtree Corners and Duluth, but when the trail is completed it will offer almost triple that mileage and create a continuous path from Norcross to Buford, perfect for both commuting and recreation.

As of 2019, the existing portion of the trail begins in Peachtree Corners at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Medlock Bridge Road. The trail leads north and east along the roadway, functioning as a smooth and wide predominantly-asphalt sidepath trail for the entirety of its route. The Western Gwinnett Bikeway does not provide much in the way of scenic beauty, but the trail connects to a whole host of parks and recreation sites along the way, giving trail users plenty of chances to make a quick detour to take in some of the sights along the Chattahoochee River. This also ensures that the bikeway helps local residents connect to popular destinations without the need for a car - in addition to the parks, numerous businesses and eateries are located along the busy Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, now easily accessible thanks to the trail. Currently, the trail comes to an end at the entrance to a golf club in Duluth, just a short distance away from Rogers Bridge Park and the river.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available near the northeast end of the trail at the golf club lot adjacent to the trailhead. Additional parking may be found along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at various businesses along the road; be sure to follow any posted parking signs and regulations. Parking is available at the West Gwinnett Park & Aquatic Center near the western end of the trail just east of S Berkeley Lake Road, and at Pinckneyville Park to the west of the road, on Old Peachtree Road.
