Westside Trail (Atlanta Beltline) Description

The Westside Trail offers a tree-lined route in Atlanta, running from University Avenue to Lena Avenue along the former Louisville and Nashville Railroad. It connects the historical neighborhoods of Adair Park at its south end, Washington Park at its north end, and West End, Mozley Park, and Westview in between. With a centerline separating one direction from the other and an underpass beneath I-20, the paved rail-trail offers an easy and convenient way for residents to get around town.

Segment 3 of the Westside Trail has just opened recently and connects to the Westside Beltline Connector Trail. This 1.22 mile northern segment with eventually connect to the 3.3 mile southern segment of the trail via Segment 4 which is under construction. This northern segment follows along Marietta Blvd.

Opened in September 2017, the trail is part of the developing Atlanta BeltLine, which will be a 33-mile trail network throughout the city. For a half mile along White Street, the trail will overlap another section of the Beltline called the West End Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

Although only on-street parking is available for the trail, it is easily accessible by public transportation. On its north end, the Ashby rail station on MARTA’s East-West line is only a short walk or ride away. On the south end of the trail, the West End rail station on MARTA’s North-South line is close at hand.

Westside Trail (Atlanta Beltline) Reviews

Great trail

I love the Westside trail! I live in midtown so it's a fun ride over on my gravel or road bike. You can hit some nice gravel trials over near the the grant park portion of the trial. Off the Westside trial are some great breweries where you can stop and get an Emergency drinking beer and a walkin Taco!! The only con; currently you do have to go down some congested roads to get back to the trial where it's not finished yet. It will be nice when the trial is complete.

Rapidly Improving

Less busy than the east side trail, which makes exercise and social distancing possible. Excited watching the development of businesses and neighborhoods.

Seemed dicey

The trail head is in a run down neighborhood. I was afraid to leave my car there, so I turned around. Looking for a better spot to hop on the belt line.
