Wetlands Loop Trail Description

The Wetlands Loop Trail is a multiuse trail located in Wetlands Park in Clark County. The loop is 14 miles around but cyclists are only permitted on the paved portion of the trail, about 11.5 miles in total, starting from the Nature Preserve on the north side of the Las Vegas Wash. From there it heads east across Big Weir Bridge and through the verdant wetland surrounding the wash. At 8.5 miles, users will come to Powerline Crossing bridge, where the trail goes over the wash and crosses over to the south side. It's at this point that the Wetlands Trail Connector makes a spur connection with the Lake Mead Parkway Trail and River Mountains Loop Trail. The Flamingo-Arroyo Trail is accessible near mile 0 of the loop on the west side of Wetlands Park.

After 11.5 miles, the paved surface ends and the unpaved portion of the trail begins. It is not as well marked and not suitable for road bikes. There are plans underway to complete the loop. All other trails in Wetlands Park are for pedestrian use only. Leashed dogs are allowed in the park.

Wetlands Park is only minutes from the Las Vegas Strip but it is a world apart - serene, green, teeming with birdlife - an oasis in the Mojave desert. The paved trail is wide enough to comfortably accommodate different kinds of users. The trail winds, twists and undulates across the terrain. Make sure to carry plenty of water and stay hydrated while you run, walk or ride.

Parking and Trail Access

There are several trailhead access points with nicely done vault restrooms, shaded picnic areas and plenty of parking. Please see map for detailed driving directions.

  • Wetlands Neighborhood Park (mile 0) - no restrooms or picnic tables
  • Wells Trailhead (between mile 9 and 10)
  • Pabco Trailhead (mile 11.5)

Wetlands Loop Trail Reviews

Fantastic trail for the whole family

The scenery is great, the roads are great, and the people are great. I definitely recommend this trail!

Worthwhile . . .

Not so much of a "loop" as a windy one-way ride and return buy the same route but a really nice one!

Must Do in Vegas

We have completed a number of trails, including River Mountain Loop Trail, and this one of the best. Trail surface is nice and wide, mostly smooth. The trail follows the surrounding earth surface with hills, a couple short but steep and winds through the drainages. Twists here and there. Nothing boring about this one. In the summer might consider early morning or early evening...not much for shade. Fair amount of traffic from bikes, hikers, runners, etc. Go do this one!
