Overview

The Baird Creek Greenway is a trail system that includes several trails for variety of activities including walking, running, biking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The paved 3.2-mile trail follows Baird Creek with a section in the Baird Creek Parkway and the Triangle Sports Area.

Throughout the route, the trail crosses the creek several times via boardwalk pedestrian bridges. Much of the trail is pleasantly tree-lined and is never far from homes, business, and schools.

About the Route

From its western end on Deckner Ave, the trail begins the east side of the East River in the heart of Green Bay. The paved pathway follows the river a short distance north, past Sullivan Elementary School. Trail users can connect to the East River Trail and Joannes Park from the Baird Creek Trail via the East River Bridge.

From the bridge, the trail meanders eastward along Baird Creek. Mostly shaded by trees, the route includes a few street crossings as it meanders through a relatively industrial (but still green) part of the city.

The section of the trail from behind the Riverside Ballroom to McAuliffe Park was named George F. Kress Trail to honor the Kress family’s contributions.

Crossing Danz Ave, the trail enters the parkway and continues following the creek through the woods to its eastern end on Baird Creek Road.

In addition to the paved trail, the Baird Creek Parkway and the Triangle Sports Area has a number of trails for walking, running, biking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

Connections

Near the Baird Creek Trail's western end, connect to the East River Trail via the East River Bridge.

Parking and Trail Access

The Baird Creek Greenway runs between Deckner Ave and Baird Creek Road in Green Bay. The Green Bay Metro provides access to the trail and there is a parking lot on the east end of the trail on Baird Creek Road.

We enjoy taking visitors on this trail because it shows the beauty of Baird Creek and then ends up in downtown Green Bay, where you can then hook up on the “Packers Heritage Trail. Here you will find a gallery of the 25 commemorative plaques located on the Packers Heritage Trail (City Walk), the Packing Plant Spur and the Lambeau-Lombardi Spur. It’s a fun easy ride. Combining both trails is a fun way to spend an afternoon riding an easy trail. (shady way on the Braid Creek Trail)
