Apple Blossom Trail Description

The Apple Blossom Trail connects the communities of Caspian and Iron River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It traces the banks of the Iron River (popular for trout fishing) and, for much of the way, closely parallels the 107-mile State Line Trail, which travelers may wish to hop on for a longer ride.

The area has a rich iron-ore mining industry dating back to the mid-1800s and history buffs will enjoy the trail’s interpretive signage and proximity to the Iron County Historical Museum (100 Brady Avenue) at its southern end in Caspian. The paved pathway follows a route once traversed by trains carrying the ore from local mines to the steel mills of Chicago and Indiana.

Parking and Trail Access

At its north end, parking is available at Nanaimo Park (900 4th Avenue) in Iron River. Parking is also available at the trail's southern terminus off Brady Avenue in Caspian (across the street from the Iron County Historical Museum).
