Print Friendly MapIf you believe the setting makes the trail, you won't quibble with the brevity of the path through Seal Beach's Electric Avenue Median Park. Ensconced in a beautifully maintained linear park, the rail-trail offers easy access to a spectacular Southern California beach at one end and—via bikes lanes and sidewalks—the impressive San Gabriel River Trail at the other.
Near the northern end of the park sits a strikingly red train car from the Pacific Electric interurban system that once ran on tracks through the area, reminding trail users of Seal Beach's unique railroad history.
To reach Electric Avenue Median Park from Interstate 405, take Exit 22 (Seal Beach Boulevard). Travel southwest on Seal Beach Boulevard for 2.9 miles, traveling through its intersection with the Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1). At Electric Avenue, turn right. Parking is available along both one-way legs of Electric Avenue (on either side of the park).
This sinuous 0.68 mile path through the park has 5 street crossings and may be continued 0.45 mile to the junction with the arch San Gabriel River Trail. At the north end go right on 6th St and cross Marina Dr., turn left on the off street path along Marina Dr, to 1st St. Cross and continue on bike lane for 0.08 mile to enter the south end of the 39 mile San Gabriel River Trail (N33.74676 W118.11261) . For a Nautical scenic ride, turn left on 1st St to Ocean Ave making a circular route back to south end of the park. By Noel Keller
