Built in 1898 for the Rock Island Railroad Line, the Rock Island Railroad Depot has been an anchor for downtown Atlantic, Iowa, since the depot’s construction. Unlike most depots, this one was uniquely created in the Renaissance architectural style, and in 2002, ARISE (Atlantic Rock Island Society Enterprise) fully restored the building. Today, the depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as home to the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce.
