Folsom South Canal Recreation Trail

It's quiet. I wish it went all the way south like it looks on google maps but sounds like that part isn't open. Maybe will try soon.

Marsh Creek Trail

Thumbs up for Marsh Creek Trail (southern half)

November, 2016 by cherylremillard

Road north from Concord Avenue up to Brentwood Boulevard. Trail was flat and very well maintained and clean. Only once was there any question about which way it went and we found it very quickly. Was surprisingly deserted on a late Saturday afternoon. The trail parallels the Creek and passes some fields and parks as well as the backs of houses. There were some underpasses and some places where we had to cross a road, but car traffic was light. I look forward to riding Marsh Creek Trail all the way up to Big Break.

Laguna Creek Trail

Good Trail for Inline Skating!

September, 2016 by sublimegirl209

There's everything in this trail! We saw rabbits, squirrels, and wildlife. Also, it goes alongside shopping centers and places to eat! Gets a little bit bumpy toward the middle, but this trail is totally worth it!

Dry Creek Parkway

Short and Sunny Trail

Parked on the South end of the trail. Biked North along the creekside. The trail lacks shade. Bring a hat for shade. Lots of dirt paths branch out from the paved bike path for additional riding.

French Camp Slough Trail

5 mile run

September, 2016 by emmgland

We went on a 5 mile run this morning. It was a nice trail with 75% of it having a river view which was nice! However, there is absolutely no shade so I suggest sunscreen and being done by 11am especially in the summer.

Browns Valley Road Trail

This is just a little path along the street which can be busy sometimes. More for walkers.

Miners Ravine Trail

Roseville Oasis

September, 2016 by dalamar49

Parked near Darling in the South and biked North to False Ravine Park. Be aware there is some elevation along the way, but its managable.

The sculpture park is a nice stop along the way. Visit the tall, red Cosmos sculpture I've driven by a thousand times.

The part near downtown Roseville is awkward. Be careful biking through Linda Dr as it is a one way street. It looks like Roseville is almost finished with a new segment of the bike path that will replace the detour along Linda Dr.

Overall a nice ride.

El Dorado Trail

Honest Climb

July, 2016 by gawarner2

In selfishness, I wouldn't write about this trail, because I wouldn't want to have to share it with anyone else. But I just have to say, riding this trail from the Placerville Station east to the end of the paved portion is a neat, tidy, beautiful workout, which you can fit into less than an hour start to end. It's only something like 4.9 miles each way, but going eastward, it probably averages about a 6% grade, I would guesstimate. It's just a pure, honest workout riding east, if you push it, and then the return trip is an excellent reward. It's a pleasure to ride on my Trek hybrid.

American River Bike Trail (Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail)

Turkeys, Egrets, Deer

May, 2016 by ss921

Great ride from Beals CSP to Hazel Ave. Saw a couple of wild turkeys, an egret doing a mating dance then crossed then walked across bike path like I have never seen an egret do. Moments later a deer crossed the bike path. Lots of flowers, sunshine but as soon as I got hot a shady part of the trail would come along. Watch for caterpillars, they are crossing the path too.

American River Bike Trail (Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail)

What a gem!

May, 2016 by chriscarter3

Smooth surface, well maintained shoulders, great views, mixture of wild natural plants and trees with groomed parks dotted along, and the river! Obviously very popular with local cyclists, runners, dog walkers, strollers, etc. Don't miss it!

Delta de Anza Regional Trail

Parts good, parts poor, some in between

April, 2016 by sailsam

We live less than 2/10 mile from this trail, near Sommersville Road in Antioch. For review purposes there are four distinct parts of this trail
Starting from the east end, where this trail meets up with the Marsh creek trail this trail is good, though better signage would be appreceated, west to Highway 4. It is very flat and some is travelling on rural Delta roads with typical Delta farmland and rural residential land scenery. Going east from there one crosses under the highway and begins a VERY steep, a climb of about a hundred feet in less than 3/4 mile, next to the Antioch water plant with very boring scenery - which you won't notice because you will be working hard unless you stop and look back.On most clear days you will see all the way to the Sierra Nevadas. At the top of the climb, you enter a residential area and then start downhill along the canal. The canal is on one side of the trail, which is in a pleasantly naturally landscaped strip behind homes. This is a pleasant slightly downhill ride, with a few road crossings, al the way to Somersville Road, a little over 6 miles. Then south along Somersville a short distance to where the trail begins again going west in an EBMUD right of way. There are steep rises and down slopes in this area, no natural or other landscaping, and behind houses. It is in this 9 mile stretch that there has been a couple muggings and a police officer killed in the last couple decades. At the west end of that stretch you navigate on residential streets with little signage telling where the trail is. Plan on taking some time to find your way through the first time. Then the trail begins the steep passage next to Highway 4 over Willow Pass. The trail here is good, though steep, and separated from the highway by a concrete block wall. Once over the top it is a steep descent into Concord. But be careful because at the bottom of the descent is a cross road with traffic. You can't take advantage of the speed coasting down the hill, easily 20+ mph, to coast a way because of the traffic possibilities. This is the west end of the Delta DeAnza trail. I've only ridden it on my trike once - on the way to a doctor's appointment at Kaiser Martinez. I recommend the Delta DeAnza trail from the Marsh Creek Trail westerly to Somersville Road. OK with care and keeping aware of your surroundings from Somersville to Bailey Road. And as a fitness exercise (or if necessary) from Bailey Road over Willow Pass.

Napa River Trail

Nice pairing with Vine Trail

March, 2016 by tommyonbike

As a cyclist, my friends and I enjoy the ability to use this trail to make a loop ride. Coming from the north west side of Napa, we ride across town and through Kennedy Park on the Vine Trail. Then, when we loop back, instead of turning onto Vallejo St from Socsol Ave to return across town on the Vine Trail, we continue on Soscol and turn right on Lincoln Ave to get to the Napa River Trail. We take this to Trancas St, then turn right and ride to Silverado Trail (1st left). This takes you up-valley. With a few exceptions, the shoulder is between 10-15 feet wide, making it a safe place to ride 2 abreast. There are cross roads every 4-5 miles to allow crossing to Hwy 29 for the return ride. You can choose the cross road to tailor your route to the length you desire. Hwy 29 also has wide shoulders south of Rutherford. Soon, the Vine Trail will provide a Class 1 route from the north side of Yountville back to Napa.
