Dry Creek Trail (Clovis)

Nice Improvements

June, 2016 by dham

I've been riding this trail periodically for several years. The downside of this trail is the trees. They do provide nice shade, however, their roots cause rough spots on the asphalt. The best improvement is at the north trailhead. There's a parking lot for vehicles and nice covered parking for bicycles.

Merced River Trail

The Grumpy Old man

May, 2016 by c_dier

05/28/2016 Unshaded - Yes; limited.
Tons of sticker bushes - 5 varieties.
Challenging - Meh; Mostly flat with small inclines.
Watch for gopher/varmint holes.

Was easy to find on the Briceburg side. This trail was enjoyable, mostly. Bring your non-cloth hiking boots/shoes or wind up with "Bullet Ant" shoes.

The best part? The "rock fairy" a nice gentleman named Eric. Was very informative about geology.

Next trip is hike upstream, raft down stream.

I run on this trail before sunrise several days a week. The trails are always clean and well-maintained. The lighting is great and I always feel safe.

Dry Creek Trail (Clovis)

Our go-to trail

August, 2015 by vaunamri

We ride this trail pretty much every evening we have a spare hour. It's an easy, pleasant ride. If we want a longer ride, we start in Old Town Clovis on the Old Town Trail, connect to the Dry Creek Trail, and then continue on the Enterprise Trail. The three trails connect nicely for a pleasant hour and a half ride.

Merced River Trail

No visible sign on Bagby Side

April, 2015 by tonystrail

Went looking for this trail from the Bagby end but nothing!! I went off of the directions given in this website. The directions say that If you're driving south on Hwy 49 you will see Pinetree Rd and then continue onto French Rd.

I never saw either one. There are no street signs for Pinetree Rd or French Rd off of Hwy 49. I drove the area twice. Others bicyclists looking for the same trail had difficulty as well. If somebody could assist I would really appreciate it. I'd like to find this trail....Thanks.

Clovis Old Town Trail

great hidden trasure in the fresno metro area

December, 2014 by soutthiluck.phanthai

nice level paved trail good for jogging or biking mountain or road bike. easy and lots of store and shops along the way, parks, water restroom. There's a parking lot on the north end of the trail from Riverpark shopping center. I started at target parking lot at sierra vista mall in clovis. plenty of parking and safe..it also branches into others trails like the dry creek trail.. slight flooding spots if used in winter time but still easy. Cameras and lights on trails throughout. highly recommend break from the city life...

Bear Creek Bikeway

A Trip Through the Hood

November, 2014 by mikerotch

This trail is more like an adventure. The best place to start the trail is at the McKee bridge. If yu park at Wal Mart, you run the risks of being car jacked, mugged, or catching a communicable disease from one of the patrons of Wal Mart.
As you begin the trail, either on the south or north side of the creek, you will begin to feel like you are in a first person shooter game, and carrying a weapon is a good idea when in the 209. You will see joggers, walkers and meth zombies. You might want to wear a medical mask as the creek you are riding along side of has a nostalgic stench of yesteryear when society would dump sewage into flowing creeks and rivers.
Once the creekside part is over, you will turn north, behind the famed Wal Mart where a wedding was once held, and, ironically, a man shot his fiance in the head, although not on the same day. This part of the route will take you up through the Faren's Creek area, but the creek that runs along side is named Black Rascal. This path takes behind the Loughborough neigborhood and starts your return to where your car will hopefully still be. Many local debate this area as the worst in Merced, so peddle fast.
Once you cross Mst, you should feel somewhat safe, but don't; many of Merced's youth groups such as the Nortenos, or Loughborough Locs like to tag the under bridges, and jack bystanders for valuables. Once you get beyond Parsons, congratulate yourself; you've passed through hell and have a srong chance of making it through the whole trail. Mckee is just a few blocks away. Head south on McKee. You're not far, but conserve your energy as you may have to ride your bike home. Car thefts are a common source of income for local tweakers.
Don't forget to wear a helmet!
